Experience with Industrial Drones (Alta 6 and Alta 8) Performing Inspections for Wind Turbines.

As a professional who has worked with industrial drones, I have found the Alta 6 and Alta 8 models to be particularly useful in performing inspections for wind turbines. One major benefit of utilizing drones in this way is the ability to inspect these structures safely and efficiently without the need for a human to physically climb them. This not only saves time and resources, but it also eliminates the risk of injury to workers.

The Alta 6 and Alta 8 drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras and sophisticated imaging software, which allows for detailed examinations of the wind turbine blades and other components. This has helped to identify potential issues early on, preventing the need for costly repairs down the line.

In addition, the Alta 6 and Alta 8 drones have proven to be reliable and easy to operate. The intuitive controls and sturdy construction have allowed us to complete inspections smoothly and with minimal downtime.

Overall, my experience with using industrial drones, specifically the Alta 6 and Alta 8 models, has been very positive. They have proven to be an effective and efficient way to perform inspections for wind turbines.

Here is what I have done so far:

  • Deploy to customer project locations sometimes solo, sometimes on small teams - to execute on-site wind turbine inspections using SkySpecs automated drone system
  • Communicate daily to SkySpecs and customers on project progress, upcoming logistics, technical troubleshooting details, product improvements, etc.
  • Fly and oversee ground and flight operations at job sites. Coordinate with visual observers for safety and situational awareness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment. Perform routine maintenance and safety checks. Update drone and Ground Control Station with job specific firmware.
  • Coordinate travel, lodging and logistics for deployments.
  • Quickly adapt to rapidly changing site requirements and company policies regarding job scope, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
